There
really couldn’t be a better time than the start of a new year, to start a new
blog. So while I’m still laughing at my own “Hustle New Year” joke (that
probably nobody gets, because nobody has even heard of Hustle dancing) I’m also
posting this online as my first blog offering.
I’d like to
give you an idea of what to expect. There will of course be delicious nougats
of dance information, probably a few pernickety details that only a post-grad
movement analyst, such as myself, would even care about, but I also intend for
this blog to be of general interest, fun to read and not just for the dance
obsessed.
I have been
there. I have been dance obsessed. If you want to be really, really good at
something then you have to be totally dedicated. You have to eat it, sleep it,
breathe it. Or if you fall in love with something, if you’re truly in love with
it, you want it in your life as much as possible. This I have done. Thankfully
though, I have come out the other side and I’ve learnt to be a well-rounded
human being again! I know how to sail a boat across the channel. I know what DRS
means in Formula 1 and I know which day of the week PMQs takes place. If that
doesn’t convince you, then I should say I do actually have friends that I
didn’t meet on a dance floor.
So there we have it. This is a dance blog for
cool people. Expect a lot about my favourite dance styles, a mish mash of
related topics such as health, fitness, food, drink, lifestyle, art, theatre, music
and shoes, plus a few random references to sailing and Formula 1. (My Twitter
and Instagram feeds also reflect this same broad range of interests.) If you're a high achieving, active and adventurous person dancing can enhance your life. Please allow me to guide you so that you can participate in the most delightful forms of dancing and enjoy and appreciate dance as an art form.
I probably won’t mention much about the silliness in PMQs.
